Graceland was once the iconic home of Elvis Presley, but now it serves as a museum dedicated to his life. Elvis had some eclectic tastes when designing the famous home and fans love to learn more about his style, especially the hidden upstairs. For instance, did you know that there is actually something hidden behind the wallpaper in the foyer?

Angie Marchese, the Vice President of Archives and Exhibits at Graceland, will often give special behind-the-scenes tours of the home. In a video featured on the web series Gates of Graceland, Angie shared a secret about the wallpaper in the foyer.

She explained, “You know what is behind this paper? A beautiful mural. We have a photograph of Elvis with a March of Dimes patient, [Mary Katoski], in 1958. He’s playing with her here in the hallway.”

There is another mural at Graceland, but Angie is not allowed to share it with fans because it resides upstairs. Only a select few, including Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley, are allowed upstairs in Elvis’ bedroom and other rooms.

Elvis’ only daughter, Lisa Marie, once shared, “He and I spent a lot of time together upstairs. That part of Graceland is his room and my room. He’d set up a little chair in my room, and [we’d watch] TV. The books, the videos, everything is still there. The Godfather, Citizen Kane, Pink Panther, Bruce Lee — all of his videos. It’s a beautiful sadness. [But] it’s very comforting to me.”
