We are where nostalgia lives

Any child of the ’90s had an American Girl doll, but that wasn’t the first time that the American Girl doll phenomenon hit the market. American Girl dolls were created in 1986 with the original American Girls, Molly McIntire, Kirsten Larson, and Samantha Parkington. The total packaging for each girl was about $100.

The three original three dolls have been archived over the years. Kirsten was pulled in 2010 in Molly in 2013. Samantha was archived in 2009 but was re-released in 2014. However, if you still happen to have one of the original Samantha dolls, you might be in for a real treat. The original Samantha Parkington doll from 1986, including outfits, accessories, and more, is going for $4,200.

This original set for Samantha Parkington includes a multitude of dresses, themed clothing items, her bedroom set, school desk, and tea table. It’s important to note that even if you do have these items tucked away somewhere, any items that may need washing or have some scratches and blemishes might knock down the price a bit.

Essentially, if you have an original Samantha Parkington doll that is in perfect condition, you could be sitting on a very large fortune!

The American Girl doll company originally sold and sent American Girl dolls by mail. They were depicted as 8 to 11-year-old girls from all types of ethnicities. After the release and commercial success of the American Girl dolls, several films were released, one of them being based on the $4,000 American girl called, Samantha: An American Girl Holiday.

Several more movies similar to the format of Samantha’s movie followed the release, including films about the American girls Felicity, Molly, and Kitt. While these films didn’t come until the early 2000s, these films largely influenced the creation of Melody Ellison’s stories An American Girl Story – Melody 1963: Love Has to Win and another story titled, An American Girl Story – Maryellen 1955: Extraordinary Christmas, both of which were released in just 2016.

The American Girl doll trend hasn’t died as several new advancements and contemporary dolls are being made, including the first-ever male doll that was announced in 2017. There is also an increasingly large fandom behind the American Girl doll franchise which mainly consists of teenage fans meeting up at various American Girl stores.

It’s safe to say that the American Girl doll franchise hasn’t died and, if anything, is only growing stronger.
