Viral Age-Altering App Called FaceApp Receives Rights To Your Photos Forever

DoYouRemember? Nostalgia Lives Here

  • A popular app called FaceApp has gone viral.
  • It takes a photo of you and shows you what you would look like at a different age or gender.
  • Privacy concerns with the app are coming to the surface. Learn how you may be affected.

Everyone seems to be using the app called FaceApp. It takes a photo of you and shows you what you’d look like at an older age. Many celebrities have hopped on the trend, sparking over a million downloads of the app. The app is based in Russia and is raising some important privacy concerns.

According to Fox 13, “You grant FaceApp a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate… distribute, publicly perform and display your User Content,” the FaceApp terms read.

While the founders of the app claim they are not doing anything malicious with your photos, the privacy policy means that your face could end up on a billboard, or anywhere really. They could use it in new artificial intelligence training as well.

Some Senators are asking the FBI and FTC to look into these concerns. They worry that apps like FaceApp could pose privacy and national security risks for people in the United States. In addition, some people worry that the Russian government is getting information from FaceApp.

A small business lawyer named Elizabeth Potts Weinstein spoke out on what the app’s privacy policy really means. She tweeted, “If you use #FaceApp you are giving them a license to use your photos, your name, your username and your likeness for any purpose including commercial purposes (like on a billboard or internet ad).”

If you use the app’s features, you must agree to this privacy policy. Many of us never read these policies because they are much too long or hard to understand. In a culture that wants things immediately, people can’t be bothered to find out where their information is truly going. That can be a very scary thing.

Always read the privacy policy

Even if you delete the app, the app owners still have your photos. If they use your photos on a billboard let’s say, you will not be alerted or compensated. The attention on FaceApp also alerts users to similar privacy policies on apps like Snapchat.

It seems that people will give out lots of personal information in exchange for a free app that provides entertainment. Steve Sammartino, a business technology expert, also warned against these apps.

He said, “Your face is now a form of copyright where you need to be really careful who you give permission to access your biometric data. If you start using that willy nilly, in the future when we’re using our face to access things, like our money and credit cards, then what we’ve done is we’ve handed the keys to others.”

Some children of celebrities have banned their parents from posting their photos due to privacy concerns.

DoYouRemember? Nostalgia Lives Here

  • Firefighter Kevin Nolan is the latest firefighter from the FDNY to pass away from a 9/11-related illness.
  • Kevin was only 58 years old. He had cancer from what he was exposed to at Ground Zero.
  • In addition, this sad news comes out just as some Senators aim to block more money for firefighters dealing with 9/11-related illnesses.

The 199th firefighter in the FDNY has passed away from a 9/11-related illness. Firefighter Kevin Nolan was only 58 years old and was retired from the FDNY. He was part of the rescue and recovery on Ground Zero after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro spoke out after Kevin’s death. According to Daily News, Daniel said, “Kevin is the 199th member of the FDNY to die of World Trade Center-related illness. So many years later, we continue to lose those who displayed such incredible bravery on that terrible day, and in the weeks that followed.”

This news spreads quickly as Senate may block a bill that would give more relief to those firefighters battling illnesses from 9/11. In addition, Senate said they don’t have the funds to pay these firefighters that risked their lives.

Gerald said, “We let their offices know that we have a wake on Friday and a funeral on Saturday. Others of our members are in hospice care, and still others in a terminal stage of cancer. We deal with this all the time. They are playing politics and playing games. It’s a lot of silliness.”

Kevin is survived by his three children and his wife. All three of his children are adults.

In conclusion, Kevin is the 199th firefighter to pass away from a 9/11-related illness. This is very sad news. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin’s family and all of the other FDNY firefighters who are dealing with 9/11-related illnesses and deaths.

Relive Some Of Red Skelton’s Best Sketches To Honor His Birthday

This article is from Do You Remember. Click the title to hop over there.

DoYouRemember? Nostalgia Lives Here

Red Skelton was born Richard Bernard Eheart on July 18, 1913. Sadly, we lost this incredible comedian and entertainer in 1997. He was 84 years old. To honor his birthday, let’s take a look back at some of his best sketches of all time! See how many of them you remember watching for the first time.

Red was best known for his show The Red Skelton Show. He was also a radio and television star, an artist, and was a well-known comedian. He started his comedic skills as early as age 10. Red hosted many other shows until he finally got his big break, hosting his own show in 1951. Check out some of our favorite sketches from The Red Skelton Show and his other comedic performances:

1. When John Wayne made an appearance

John Wayne was very popular back then and was a real treat to see on the show. In the skit, John is looking for a man who is out to kill him. The man wears an eye patch, but so does John. When Red comes in wearing an eye patch, the two can’t see each other! This one gets me every time.

2. Red’s comedy specials

Red also had some hilarious comedy specials! Here is one where he did some of his infamous characters. Many of the comments on this video reminisce about a time where comedians were funny without swearing. Some say that was true entertainment.

3. Sheriff Deadeye featuring Phyllis Diller

In this clip, Red plays Sheriff Deadeye. Phyllis Diller, another comedian of the time, guest-starred in this scene where she plays “Killer Diller” and faces off against Red. I love how they are always laughing and having so much fun on the show!

DoYouRemember? Nostalgia Lives Here

One couple in Georgia died just 12 hours apart. Herbert and Marilyn Frances DeLaigle passed away on the same day after being married for 71 years. Herbert was 94 years old while Marilyn Frances was 88. The couple’s caretaker is speaking out about the incredible love she saw between the two of them.

Sharon Gibbons Brown was the couple’s caretaker. She shared a touching tribute post on Facebook. It read, “They lived together, loved together, laughed together and passed on the same day. They really had some love story. I’ve read about this kind of love, heard about it, seen it movies but having contact and actually getting to know the individuals actually takes it to a whole different level being in the presence of the DeLaigles was such a blessing.”

She went on the say that the opportunity to know them was “priceless.” The couple’s daughter also said that they were very special. The DeLaigle family released a statement. The statement read, “It’s amazing how they were together for 71 years and now they are together in heaven. What an amazing love story that is.”

Last year, the couple did an interview with WRDW-TV to celebrate their 70-year-marriage. They said that they met at a cafe in Waynesboro, Georgia. Herbert was 22 and Marilyn Frances was only 16.

They did a TV interview just last year

Herbert said their first date was to the movies. He told the station, “Frances worked at a little cafe we had in Waynesboro named White Way Cafe. I kept seeing her going in and out, in and out and I had my eyes set on her. And then I finally got up the nerve to ask her if she would go out with me sometime.”

One year after their first date, Herbert asked Marily Frances to marry him. The rest is history. In addition, their caretaker Sharon reminisces about the first time she met them.

For instance, “When I met them, I thought they were so cute the way they had their recliners set right next to each other smiling and looking into each other’s eyes as they talked. You could feel the love they had for each other the moment you walked into their room they were both so pleasant and humble, they accepted me as their caregiver just minutes after meeting them.”

Sharon described them as teenagers after watching how they were the first night she stayed with them. She said, “They were awake holding hands like 4 a.m. in the morning telling each other how much they loved each other. They smiled, giggled and played like teenagers falling in love for the first time.”

The couple is survived by their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In conclusion, it seems to be a common occurrence for couples who are together so long to die on the same day.

Disney Responds To Abigail Disney’s Harsh Accusations

This article is from Do You Remember. Click the title to hop over there.

  • We previously reported about some of the claims that Abigail Disney had about the company.
  • Disney spoke out against her allegations.
  • Learn what Disney had to say back to Abigail.

The Walt Disney Co. normally does not comment on stories in the news, but they are breaking their silence after learning about Abigail Disney’s story. Abigail Disney is the granddaughter of Roy. O Disney. Abigail recently visited the California Disney park and said she was “livid”, hearing about working who were making $15 per hour when the Disney CEO Bob Iger gets an “insane compensation.”

Abigail claimed that workers said things like, “I don’t know how I can maintain this face of joy and warmth when I have to go home and forage for food in other people’s garbage.”

According to Newser, Disney pushed back by saying, “The men and women who make Disney parks such a special experience for millions of people are dedicated, hardworking and proud, and we will continue to listen to, empower and reward them. That’s what this company has done throughout its history and will continue to do in the future.”

It’s funny that this is the quote that went crazy. I got blowback from Christians mainly because I seem to be suggesting Jesus was taking a salary. So just to be clear, it’s called hyperbole. Look it up.

A post shared by Abigail Disney (@abigaildisney) on Apr 23, 2019 at 12:25pm PDT

Disney also called Abigail’s reports “particularly egregious.” They continued, “This widely reported stunt is a gross and unfair exaggeration of the facts that is not only a misrepresentation but also an insult to the thousands of employees who are part of the Disney community. We strongly disagree with this characterization of our employees and their experience at Disney.”

They also said that on average Disney park employees make $19.50 per hour and they offer great benefits such as childcare, leave policies, and more.

A post shared by Abigail Disney (@abigaildisney) on Jun 11, 2018 at 2:48pm PDT

Abigail Disney, the heiress of the beloved Disney, has opened up about her childhood and dealing with alcoholic parents. Her grandfather was Roy O. Disney, and he co-founded The Walt Disney Company with her great uncle, the famous Walt Disney. Abigail, who is now 59 years old, remembers her trauma in a new Yahoo News series called Through Her Eyes.

“There’s this assumption that I just was raised on fairy dust and rainbows,” Abigail says, remembering her parents Roy E. Disney and Patricia Ann Dailey. “My parents were conservative and very strict and both alcoholics. So there was some violence in my home.”

“Not all over the place, not all the time. But when you do get subjected to some violence as a child, you kind of never feel safe again,” Abigail explains. “So we didn’t feel safe in my home at all.”

Abigail also reveals that her grandfather (the co-founder of Disney alongside Walt Disney) did eventually get the help regarding his own alcoholism. This was prior to his death in 2009. Abigail also recalls the significance of the Disney princesses in her life from a young age and what meaning they held for her.

Abigail Disney did not fit the mold

“The princess philosophy in most of the early films was a philosophy I was raised on,” she remembers. “I was raised to be very, very, very polite and to pay attention to how I treated everyone, and to carry myself well, and to not be the loudmouth that I am.”

She continues, “I never fit that description,” she says. Abigail remembers being a tomboy as a kid. “I guess I feel a cynicism about the princess thing and the ultra femininity thing because I had my life handed to me on a silver platter… And I did not ask or earn it.”

Abigail reveals that she did love going to the actual park. However, she was only allowed to go there for special events. This means that should the family have a special event to go to, she would have to dress up in her ‘white gloves and patent leather Mary Janes.’ She didn’t really get to experience the joy of a kid being at Disney.

Abigail said that she felt like she was escaping from prison when she left for college. She is now a successful producer, filmmaker, and philanthropist. She has also given away millions of dollars that she inherits from her family when she turned 21. Wow!
