John Travolta and his wife, Kelly Preston, are remembering their late son Jett, who would have turned 28 years old. The couple shared a few photo posts on Instagram a few days ago, highlighting the fact that it would’ve been their son’s birthday. “Happy Birthday Jetty! We love you! ❤️” Travolta writes in his post alongside an older photo of the two together.
“Happy Birthday to our sweetest Jetty, we love you!! 💖✨” Preston says in hers, also alongside a photo of them. Jett sadly passed away at the age of 16 after hitting his head on a bathtub after suffering a seizure while on vacation with his family.
Remembering Jett Travolta
Even the couple’s daughter, Ella, shared a heartwarming post for her late brother. She writes, “Happy Birthday to my brother Jett, I love you so much ❤️❤️❤️.” They are all pitching in to remember their loved one accordingly during such a difficult time. It never gets any easier to celebrate them on their birthdays when they are gone!
The couple also share 9-year-old son, Benjamin. Both of them, especially Preston, often share family photos to their Instagram accounts. Just earlier this month, she actually posted an old photo of herself, her husband, Ella, and Jett, who was autistic. She writes, “I have a special place in my heart for those with autism and special needs.”
She continues in her post, “Sending love to some of my favorite people in the world. My son Jetty was one of the most playful and wonderful souls you’ve ever met. Love to all of you with autism and special needs around the world.” Preston has long been an advocate for pushing autism awareness.
Opening up about Jett’s medical conditions
Travolta and Preston both choose to keep their late son’s life private, and thus, don’t usually talk about him. However, Preston did open up back in 2012 on an episode of The Doctors, talking about her son’s death and his autism.
“[Jett] was autistic. He had seizures and when he was very young, he had Kawasaki Syndrome. I strongly believe as a mother, as does my husband, that there are certain contributing factors that lead to autism and some of it is very much the chemicals in our environment and in our food.”
